Since 2015, ADRIA sas Catania has been part of NovaGroup — a choice that, for its owner Alberto Caruso, has marked an important turning point in how he approaches both the market and his own role within it.
«The network is a truly interesting project,» he explains, «because it allows medium and small-sized companies like ours to join forces and have a stronger voice. We feel represented — we’re not alone in the distribution landscape.»
Being part of NovaGroup means sharing goals and vision, but also facing the everyday challenges of the sector together. «Thinking as a group changes everything. We put in a bit more effort, of course, but knowing that we’re part of a system gives us confidence and makes us stronger.»
Caruso highlights how unity has become an essential condition in a market increasingly dominated by large multinationals: «Today’s market is made up of huge corporations that see the Italian fragmentation of small players as an anomaly. Presenting ourselves as a single, united network of companies is far more effective.»
Joining the group, he recalls, was also a personal moment of growth: «I remember presenting my company to many members I didn’t know. It was emotional — almost like a rite of passage. It made me realize how even a small business can bring real value to the group.»
When describing the dynamics of the market, Caruso uses a vivid image: «The aftermarket is like a rally — sharp accelerations, sudden slowdowns, curves, obstacles. You have to be ready, dynamic, and quick to react.»
It’s a context, he says, where there’s no room for complacency: «In the aftermarket, you can’t live off past success. You have to stay sharp, ready to adapt, and truly understand how the market moves.»
At the foundation of it all, however, lies a value that Caruso considers essential for the future: cohesion.
«Staying united is the key. There are many temptations and challenges, but if the group remains compact, we can achieve great things. If I were a coach, my role would be that of a motivator — to give courage, vision, and trust.»
